Shelley was determined to find answers for her mother’s change in behavior and slurred speech. Eventually getting into the elite Penn Memory Center. It looks like Penn now has it’s own Frontotemporal Dementia Center if you’d like to check it out here.

Mary and her best friend Donna Lee, mentioned in the episode.

Mary was cared for at home by her husband Jim, with Shelley close by to help.

One of my favorite parts of this episode was our conversation about talking to our kids about losing our parents and about grief. I don’t remember talking about this too much on the podcast before and I hope it helped any other parents listening.

I don’t want to give too much away - it is such a great episode, and Shelley tells the story in a beautiful way that truly honors her mom, Mary. I loved getting to know who Mary truly was, through her eyes.

I’ve included an extra sound byte from Shelley here with more about how she thinks Mary would like to be remembered.

As always, thank you for listening, thank you for reading… and thank you for always, always accepting the good.

xo Maria
